Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in power distribution systems within buildings. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient and reliable electrical power distribution systems to meet the needs of our clients. This role will require expertise in both theoretical knowledge and practical application, as well as the ability to lead a team of engineers and technicians.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical power distribution systems for buildings, including but not limited to load calculations, equipment selection, and layout design.
- Conduct detailed analysis and assessments of existing power distribution systems to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that electrical designs meet project requirements and adhere to relevant codes and standards.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to junior engineers and technicians throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform site visits and inspections to assess the condition of electrical systems and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during construction or operation.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, drawings, and specifications for electrical power distribution systems.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in electrical engineering technology and best practices, and incorporate them into project designs as appropriate.
- Participate in project meetings, presentations, and client consultations as needed to discuss project requirements and progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree a plus.
- 7 years of experience in electrical power engineering, with a focus on internal building systems
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, and standards, including NEC, IEEE, and NEMA.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software for electrical design, such as AutoCAD or Revit.
- Work experience with arc flash and low to medium voltage distributed power systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively to develop innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
- Experience with sustainable design practices and energy efficiency initiatives is a plus.
